MOrgan Horse Association of NZ E-Newsletter. September 2013

Hi All,

And welcome to our first E newsletter.

Spring is just around the corner. Better weather, more daylight and more time to have fun with our Morgan’s. Yeah!!!!

For some of you show season is almost upon us. Keep us posted we love to hear how you all get on. Don’t forget about the different competitions we run

HiPointRosetteHighpoint Morgan

To further advertise how wonderful our Morgan’s are we would like to give Rosettes to the Highpoint Part/Morgan at various events around the country.

We need your help with this venture.

Can you tell us what Regional/National Events there are around that you compete at.

We need to contact the convenors of these events to ask them if they can get competitors to identify if they have a Part Morgan / Morgan and give the Horse/Pony’s Registration Number, so a winner can be identified and the Rosette given at the event for all the world to know how well the Morgan did!

This may not be possible for this year at this stage, but if we can identify the events we could target we can talk to the convenors and set it up for next season.

These maybe big gymkhanas, Dressage series etc. Send your ideas to the Secretary: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please help us with this venture. Let us know if you would like to give sponsorship towards one of these events as advertising personally, or for your business.

This year the National show is being held at Megan and Tim Kelly’s property in Timaru. The show is being held over a day and half and as always is a lot of fun and a great way to get together and catch up with old friends and make new ones.

The biggest thing with running such an event is funding, and finding bodies to help run the show up to and on the day.

If you can help with sponsorship or volunteering your help, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This Show is for all registered part Morgan/Morgan but you don’t necessarily have to belong to the association, with that said, If you know of someone who owns a Morgan let them know about the show, the more the merrier.

Joyce Swanson

Joyce Swanson a very experienced judge, horse trainer and coach from America is coming to NZ to judge for the National Miniature Horse show held early march 2014. Joyce has offered her services to hold a 2 day clinic in the art of Western Dressage, We are a little way along with the organisation and will let you know when we have something set in concrete.

 Greg Lyons

Are any of you going to Equitana in Sydney this year? If you are make sure you check out The Australian Morgan Horse Association stand. Pop in and say hi to Greg Lyons and his team of Morgan enthusiasts. They are raising the flag and introducing more people to the Morgan bred. Greg and his wife Kathy recently came to NZ and meet some of us, really lovely people, and they would love your support and to meet you.

I’m sure like me It’s a bit of a swear word one word we all dread but unfortunately it’s a necessary evil if we want to achieve the things we would like to.

On a brighter note I would like to congratulate Kerrie Cater for running a last minute and very successful raffle raising $for us, also Megan, Lauren and Emma Kelly have been

Busy with the local pony club, baking and selling snacks. So far raising around $600 for the association. Do you have any ideas for fundraising we would love to hear them?

As you can see there is a lot going on,

Don’t forget to check the Website and our face book page, they are great place’s to keep in touch with what’s going on within the association.

As always for these things to happen the Committee needs your support with your help and feedback

Thanks for reading, till next time
