Our Judge - Wayne Hipsley, BSc, MSc Wayne has spent a life-time working with horses as a breeder, owner and trainer. For over 35 years he has served as a licensed horse show judge with the United States Equestrian Federation, adding many different judges licenses from other breeds and disciplines. He has written books on horse judging and has served as an instructor for judges seminars for: Morgans, Arabians, Andalusian’s, Norwegian Fjords, American Miniature Horses, Mountain Gaited Horses, and many more. His educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Animal Husbandry and a master’s degree in animal physiology. Besides working with breed associations, he has spent a number of years teaching in the academic classroom many subjects related to equine studies, including Judging and Selecting Horses. His introduction and experience with Morgans was acquired first hand. He first served as the Superintendent of Horses, for the University of Massachusetts, Morgan Horse breeding program, similar to the University of Vermont, breeding and showing horses with the "Bay State" prefix. UMass was located just a few miles from Northampton, Massachusetts, in the heart of the Morgan Horse country, so he participated in many of the National and Eastern National Morgan Horse Shows. Later, he served as the Executive Director of the American Morgan Horse Association. He worked for the AMHA for over 4 years in this capacity. In this role he participated in all the Morgan Horse activities from the early planning of the Grand National Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City to instructing at judges seminars. He knows the history and the traditions of the breed, Morgans.
